The Missouri Center for Employee Ownership Partners with MOSourceLink to Improve Employee Ownership Ecosystem in Missouri
Kansas City, MO – January 24, 2023
The Missouri Center for Employee Ownership (MOCEO), which provides resources and education to encourage other Missouri business owners to consider employee ownership, has partnered with MOSourceLink on a seven month long project to improve the employee ownership ecosystem in Missouri.
The work of MOSourceLink will help MOCEO in meeting its goals to assess small business owners to identify risk in the region and develop online learning software with on-demand training, followed by workshops on exit-planning and employee ownership. The project, implemented in three phases, will map existing resources in the employee ownership space by categorizing if a business would work as an ESOP (employee stock ownership plan) transaction or worker cooperative transaction, identify gaps in the ecosystem, and provide an assessment of where the best and most effective contributions in the employee-ownership space might develop.
MOSourceLink, a program of the UMKC Innovation Center, is known to connect entrepreneurs and small business owners with a network of nonprofit resource organizations that provide business-building services. Their ability to link these resource organizations to one another will be vital to the success of employee ownership in Missouri. [Insert quote here?]
