Owning Our Future Business Luncheon

St. Louis' economy is in a moment of major transition, and we have a chance to secure it for generations to come.

Around 70% of St. Louis business owners are at or nearing retirement, but very few have succession plans. Nearly half of the region's workforce is employed by these businesses. We must respond strategically, boldly, and urgently.

That's why we're launching the St. Louis Employee Ownership Initiative — a new effort to strengthen the economy, growing the wealth of the workforce, and keep businesses rooted locally by converting legacy businesses to employee ownership. Research shows employee-owned businesses see increased profits, stronger retention, and deeper community ties.

Join us for the Owning Our Future Business Luncheon on Thursday, July 23rd, 11:00am–1:30pm at Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis — co-hosted by the Koch Center for Family Enterprise, the Missouri Center for Employee Ownership, and WEPOWER.

We're bringing together regional leaders, business owners, and wealth and business advisors to:

  • Share the vision and strategy for turning this ownership transition challenge into an economy-strengthening opportunity

  • Highlight real success stories from employee-owned businesses

  • Lift up opportunities for partnership and action
